出尽くした感のある木椅子にあえて挑戦したもので従来の木工とは違った視点から軽快さと強度を力学の慎重なバランスに着目して検討し、新たな椅子デザインを生み出そうと努めた。最終的に微妙に湾曲したフレームとパネルとの一体構造を追求することにより驚くほど軽く仕上がった。座が四角なため、アームレスを並べてベンチとしたり、片アーム等と組み合わせて多様な展開が可能なように工夫した。

This wooden chair was a provocation to the conventional wooden chair market. This new design method achieved a careful balance of lightness and strength. The pursuit of a single structure of slightly curved frame and a panel resulted in a surprisingly lightweight finish. The square-shape seat allows for various seating arrangements; armless ones can be placed side-by-side as a bench, while a single armrest can be added to form a unique combination.
